OHIO’S PREMIER VOCAL SHOW GROUP

IS NOW ACCEPTING NEW MEMBERS!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How often are rehearsals?
When not performing we rehearse twice a month on Saturdays  in Dublin, Ohio (Near Columbus.)

What kind of music do you perform?
The Voices of Ohio performs a wide variety of contemporary and traditional music. Our repertoire includes music that celebrates the American heritage and spirit, with a variety of pop, rock, country, show tunes, songs of faith and patriotic music.

Is this some kind of “religious” choir?

No. The Voices of Ohio is a secular Vocal Show Group with no affiliation with any religious organization or church of any kind.

Are you an a capella group?

No. We’re a mixed (women and men) accompanied vocal show ensemble. But we occasionally work on a capella pieces.

Where does The Voices of Ohio perform?

The Voices of Ohio continues to perform at a variety of venues primarily in Ohio. Millersport Sweet Corn and Barnesville Pumpkin Festivals, Centerville, Willard and West Chester Summer Concert Series, Dynamite National Showcase, Cuyahoga, Stark, Erie and Fairfield County Fairs and the Ohio State Fair. We have also taken performance trips to Pennsylvania, New York City and Atlanta.

Do I need to be an amazing singer?
No – All you need is a love of singing, energy and passion, for the music and the group . We consider these things far more important than technical skills. Even if the only singing you have ever done in your life is in the shower, we can still use your voice. Singing is like any other skill, the more you do it, the better you will become.

Do I have to read music?
No.We provide audio files of our material that allows our non-music-reading members to learn everything by ear, just like you have probably learned most of the songs you know right now. However, we work from sheet music in our rehearsals, so if you happen to read music, you can learn the songs that much faster. If you have a good singing voice and a decent ear for music, you will do fine.

What is the expected level of commitment?

Coming to rehearsal and learning the music. We learn a challenging repertoire so you must be committed to learning the music as we go along. Therefore we ask that if you join The Voices of Ohio, you make a commitment to attend all or most of our rehearsals and work on the music in your spare time. Availability to perform for most of our shows during our normal Show Season which typically runs from May through October. (See our Calendar)
